Fuel Price Relief Expected for South Africans in November
South Africans can expect some relief at the pumps in November, with mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) showing fuel price cuts across all grades — despite the recent weakening of the rand.

According to current CEF data, the expected adjustments for November are:

These cuts follow a period of strong over-recovery, driven by lower global oil prices and a relatively stable rand.
Rand and Oil Dynamics
The rand has traded between R17.07/$ and R17.50/$ in recent weeks, benefiting from a weaker US dollar and higher commodity prices like gold and platinum. Analysts expect the local currency could strengthen further if global conditions remain favourable.
Meanwhile, oil prices have fallen steadily, dropping below $65 a barrel and currently trading around $62.40. This decline is linked to slowing global demand, US–China trade tensions, and forecasts of a record crude surplus by the International Energy Agency in 2026.

While the CEF’s mid-month data provides a reliable indicator of direction, final fuel prices will only be confirmed by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy a few days before implementation in early November.
