South Africa’s New Currency design
The South African Reserve Bank has released the latest Bank notes and coins.
Bank notes and coins noww have additional security features. The South African flag has been added in micro-lettering and the Big Five are now depicted as family. The reason this change has come into effect in the note is to celebrate and highlight our interconnection with other living beings.
The R5 Coin now has Southern Right Whales on them, replacing the wildebeest which was in the previous coin design.
The R2 Coin now has Springbuck on it, replacing the Kudu in the previous coin design.
The R1 coin now has the National Flower on it, replacing the Springbuck which was in the previous design.
The 50cent coin now has the Bird of paradise on it, replacing the strelitzia
The 20 cent coin now features the aloe, replacing the protea which was on the the previous design.
The 10 cent coin now features the Honeybee, replacing the arum lilly.
