Submitting Tax Returns older than Five years
SARS has recently received complaints from tax practitioners regarding difficulties in accessing their clients’ returns older than five years.
Tax professionals must verify their eFiling status before they can request or submit tax returns.
Tax practitioners may proceed with these requests or submissions once they have successfully reconfirmed their status.
Tax administrators cannot ask for or send old tax returns to tax practitioners. This makes things harder for the tax practitioners.
SARS has changed the rules so tax administrators can now request or submit tax returns that are older than five years.
